Why Choose Me?
Welcome to and thank you for visiting Psychologist Newcastle. Experiencing emotions and feelings is part of being human. Feeling happy, joyful, excited, sad, angry, anxious or stressed is very normal and in fact, necessary for survival.
Emotions come from the subcortical regions of the brain and cause physical reactions in the body. Our feelings are sparked by emotions and are coloured by personal experiences, beliefs, memories, and thoughts linked to that particular emotion.
When we are faced with challenges in our lives, it can feel very difficult to steer ourselves away from negative emotions and feelings, which can lead to suffering, as our attention and reasoning and thoughts and actions are all led by how we feel, rather than our rational thinking and reasoning leading the way.
Therapy can help you to understand how your life experiences have led you to feel, think and behave the way you do and help you to develop healthier ways to respond to your emotions and feelings so you feel more able to cope with life’s challenges.
Feeling well mentally doesn’t always come easy and we often have to put in the work to feel good. I believe that everyone can benefit from therapy to work towards a life that feels good for them.
I work with individuals and couples aged 16 years and over who are committed to wanting to understand and improve their mental health and emotional well-being.
I offer evidence based psychological therapy for a wide range of emotional, behavioural and psychological difficulties, tailoring my approach to meet individual needs.
I run a private practice in Jesmond, Newcastle upon Tyne as well as working part time for the NHS.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at The University of Northumbria in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at The University of Newcastle.
I am also an Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing therapy and Cognitive Analytic Therapy Practitioner.
